Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Sacramento is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Sacramento is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Me and 2 friends met for brunch and it was all of our first time eating here. The service was great! Extremely friendly and welcoming and very attentive. The food was fresh and delicious! Everything was great! We ordered the beignets for the table and they were perfectly cooked and came with a delicious mixed berry sauce to dip them in. I ordered the southern BLT and my friends each ordered the avocado scramble and both said it was delicious also. Iβll definitely be going back to order everything else on the menu!

The Porch is a cool concept. It's southern style food in the heart of downtown Sacramento. The food is really good, but it stops short of great. The grits are far too sweet for my personal taste preference. The biscuits are overcooked for some reason. Everything else was excellent. The bar was also a highlight. The entire staff was friendly. One big knock on them is that meals often take over an hour to arrive at your table after an order is placed. This is too long for lunch. The prices are reasonable. I think The Porch is worth trying, and then judge for yourself.

Went for dinner. We had a couple of cocktails (the lemonade one and the old fashioned. Both were delish!) For dinner, we had the grilled bread as an app, and she had the smothered pork chop and I had the brisket meatloaf. Spectacular! Service was spot on, too! Nicely done, Porch!

My friends and I celebrated my birthday here last week, and I am more than satisfied with our experience at the Porch! Sky did an amazing job serving our table and even participated in our tea affirmation exchange. Sky went above and beyond in service and kindness, taking pictures for us, listening attentively to multiple orders, and even ensuring we had personalized menus for the table. Skyβs recommendation for the Praline coffee was delicious. Parking was a little hard for some people, but I arrived early and found a spot directly in front of the building. Yay me! I gave my food a 3 rating because everything lacked flavor, unfortunately. The chicken was hot and cooked perfectly, but I had to add table salt. The cheese grits were heavy and thick, so I didn't eat them. The beignets were decent. I was expecting them to be softer, but the jam was yummy. I was a little disappointed in the food, but my godmother and friend had the fried catfish and said it was seasoned perfectly and was really yummy, so I will try that in the future. Thank you to The Porch for such kind and attentive service. We had a lovely time.

Went on a Saturday for brunch with three other people and when I asked the wait time, the host took awhile to seat us, even though I said we were ok with outside. At the end, we ended up seating outside and all the time wasted could have been to help other people. Our server was friendly, but since we were outside she would take awhile to come outside. The meatloaf was a big plate and my husband could not finish it. He did say it was a bit salty. The shrimp and grits were great (would recommend). My son's chicken tenders were great as well and looked homemade and not like it came from a frozen bag. There is paid parking around the area. It was a 60 degree day but with jackets on, the weather felt amazing. When we had stepped into the restaurant it had felt too stuffy, so I am glad we got to seat outside.
